Located at 249, Lebuh Pantai, this cozy eatery captures the nostalgic essence of old-school teahouses with its heritage-inspired décor and an ambiance that feels like a warm embrace from the past.
Loong Fong Cafe specializes in a delectable range of classic dishes that are deeply rooted in local culinary traditions. One cannot miss their standout Traditional Bread & Mantou offerings, particularly the Fried Mantou with Curry Chicken, where golden, crisp fried mantou buns cradle the rich, aromatic curry chicken cooked in-house — a harmonious marriage of textures and flavors that awaken the palate. For toast lovers, the Peanut Butter Toast and the Kaya Butter Steamed Bread are irresistible choices, boasting perfectly balanced sweetness and creaminess that melt delightfully with each bite.
For those seeking a heartier meal, the Claypot Lou Shu Fun offers a comforting medley of prawns, ikan bilis, fish cake, shredded chicken, and eggs simmered in a claypot, reaching you with a captivating smoky wok hei aroma that speaks of meticulous care and traditional cooking methods. Another gem is their Herbal Chicken Drumstick Soup, featuring tender, slow-cooked chicken drumsticks steeped in an aromatic herbal broth, served over silky noodles — a soul-soothing dish perfect for cooler days or when craving wholesome nourishment.
Beverages here are crafted with equal attention to detail. The classic Teh varieties, infused with traditional condensed milk or subtle spices, provide a creamy and fragrant sip that perfectly complements the robust flavors of their menu. Alternatively, try the herbal Luo Han Guo drink, an invitingly sweet and refreshing treat that replenishes and relaxes.
Dining at Loong Fong Cafe is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food. We were crossing the junction when we saw a crowd Infront this cafe. Curious, we checked in for our late breakfast. It was crowded inside but was lucky to find a table. Food...just like most local cafes....but admit they have many varieties to choose. Staffs helpful to explain the SOP on ordering food. Cozy atmosphere just like a heritage house beautifully decorated. Washroom upstairs. Cafe suitable for tourists who love to try Penang's delights.

Like an old school teahouse, even the songs they play are from the 1950s-60s. Service is fabulous, saw the wait staff explain the menu to tourists who are not familiar with local food. We ordered the herbal chicken soup, fried noodles, kaya butter toast, fried prawn roll and half boil egg. They were DELICIOUS! The toast was charcoal toasted, which is a rare find nowadays. Toast is airy and crispy with the charcoal fragrance I recommend this place for everyone who visits Penang

Had a lovely breakfast at Loong Fong Cafe — a great spot for local comfort food with a nostalgic kopitiam vibe. We tried quite a few items: the claypot mee tai mak was served hot with that perfect wok hei aroma. The signature nasi lemak stood out with its aromatic rice, crispy chicken, and rich sambal that packed a nice punch. Both the kaya butter and sugar butter toasts were perfectly crisp and generously spread — simple but so satisfying. The egg toast was soft and comforting, while the waffle was light and buttery. Don’t miss their milky popiah, a creative and surprisingly tasty twist! Overall, a hearty, old-school breakfast experience worth waking up early for.

Came here on a public holiday morning when it was raining heavily, and despite the weather, there was already a queue and a packed restaurant which should be a clear sign of how popular this place is. The wait was about 15 minutes, which was quite reasonable considering the crowd. Once seated, we ordered through their QR code system, which was efficient and easy to use. The Nasi Lemak Chicken Rempah and Eggs on Toast were both delicious and perfectly cooked, it is flavourful, well-balanced, and served promptly. We also tried the Mantou with Curry Chicken, and it was beautifully done. The mantou was soft, fluffy, and not oily, while the curry was rich and aromatic without being overly spicy. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the portion size was generous, complete with a large, perfectly cooked potato. It’s definitely a dish worth ordering again. The service was excellent, and the staff handled the busy morning crowd with efficiency and friendliness. Overall, this place offers great food, smooth service, and a comfortable dining experience. I’d happily come back again to try more dishes and I highly recommend this cafe if you’re looking for a satisfying local meal with consistent quality.

The decoration really makes you feel like back in the 1960s. The food was great — everything was amazing except the fried noodles, which were a bit on the salty side. Other than that, everything was pretty good. The coffee was amazing — perfectly bittersweet and spot on!

We had a great experience at Loong Fong Cafe! Tried their Kaya Butter Toast – crispy on the outside, soft and fragrant inside, just the right amount of kaya and butter. The Bursting Salted Egg Yam Ball was a pleasant surprise — rich, creamy, and super addictive! The Stir Fried Loong Fong Noodle was flavourful and satisfying, perfect comfort food. Was happy to see Antique Glass Coca-Cola served the old-school way, which added to the nostalgic vibes. Ended our meal with Hor Ka Sai, a smooth and aromatic blend of coffee and tea — simply the best! Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food — definitely worth coming back again!
